Amazing selection of breads, pastries, cakes and more. Great whole grain products. Everything is made from scratch. Yum!
locally owned and family run. full of good smells, healthy, tasty food and friendly helpful service. what more could you ask for?
Good looking bakery. However the product looks much better than it tastes. The owner was also very rude when simple questions required clarification.
Very Helpful Service, Clean facility- Bread is wonderful!!
owner VERY rude and dismissive of courteous inquiries about product. Staff were helpful and apologetic. Product tasty but will not return under current ownership
Quaint little bakery, however the owners are very ill-mannered and unpleasant.
I love the Bon Ton bakery. Their cranberry nut bread is one of my favourites ... for a new mother it is a meal all in itself. The breads are all wonderful, the staff are friendly, and they have great cookies. I buy all my baked goods there now.
Products are OK. However the owner is very rude and impolite toward customers. I would not recomend this shop as the products are not good enough to put up with an owner that does not care about the customer service.
This bakery is a jewel! Tasty, fresh and wholesome products that contain the least possible (if any) amounts of additives are sold there.
It is a pleasant experiene to shop there because the employees are friendly and helpful, which indicates that they are treated well.
i work at the bon ton and w/e the owners are nice i think
Does it not seem like the owner is putting in his or her own comments??? just curious
Cranberry Almond Loaf - best on the planet!!!!
I love this little bakery esp. the variety of cookies. the favorite being ginger snaps, NOT the kind with barley. I sure hope the bakers and all the staff are paid their worth.
the best bakery around
All of the negative comments about the owner of the Bon Ton have made me add my 2 cents worth.Yesterday, I visited the Bon Ton Bakery for the first time in more than 25 years. Then it was a doughnuts and white bread shop, now it is very
Do they hire bakers from germany? does anybody know that? Im from GE and would like to work in a bakery in Edmonton. I heard, this is a pretty popular bakery over there. I didnt find a homepage, so I just post my question in here. maybe somebody can help me.
1. I have and do travel a fair bit and have been around bakeries most of my life and must say as far as bakeries go this is one of the Top around!
They have come along way since the 1950's!
This bakery is under it's second owner and they have done a GREAT job in re-modeling the store front and it's product line!
2. To reply to Zungenwurst, I would suggest you contact the owner Hilton Dinner.
I think their e-mail address is email@example.com
I grew up with the Bon Ton Bakery, back in the days when it was owned by Mr. Edelman. It was, at that time, the best bakery in Edmonton, and when I married a European, we made Bon Ton a weekly ritual, so that we could find good rye bread.
The last time I visited Bon Ton, the front staff (one of the now owners) was friendly in chatting me up, but instead of giving me a fresh loaf of bread, she took one of the bottom shelf. I paid full price for one or two day old bread, and was very disappointed. That was the end of my Bon Ton visits, after almost 30 years as a customer.
I've heard from other long time customers who have lived in the neighbourhood that the quality of Bon Ton breads is not near what it was in its heyday, and I agree.
Sugar is cheap most North Am bakeries use way too much, Bon Ton is no exception. I do visit regularly and choose mostly baguettes (very good), bagels, whole grain breads. Bagels are not like you'll find in Montreal or NY but they're good. Owners are sympathetic, decent people, no complaints. Staff is good. One staff member has been here since the early 80s and she has not aged. No joking.
FYI, all of the bread out front is fresh...they don't keep
This bakery has some of the most wonderful baked goods. yum
Make sure you try out the carrot cake!
I am really nervous about going back to the hood and entering the hallowed domain as I remember it from 35 years ago by all the bad reviews..I grew up eating Mr Edelman's wonderful breads and pastries every day as my mother worked in the bakery and for the Edelman's in their home. In fact, my wedding cake was made by Ethel who was a long time employee. I fondly remember Mr Edelman giving me "my choice" of goodies when visiting the bakery..and his wonderful smile...I hope the new owners have not monkeyed with the recipes like the egg loaf bread or the amazing rye bread. So from my memories I am going to give my review and then I will be going to check it out and let my taste buds tell the truth...
This is the best bakery in town. I bake most of my own breads, cakes, cookies etc. When I don't have time, this is the only bakery I will support.
The Bon Ton bakery has class as does all the goodies in it what more can I say, if I lived closer I would shop there more. I was introduced to Bon Ton by a freind who brought over a variety of cookies it was an automatic sell.
Hey you all, This backery is absolutely an amazing experience. It has something for everyone,
and then some. I can't help but spend a bit of money there every time I go,... as there is just so much goodness. The staff are totally awesome and very helpful as they will explain what is in products if you need to know and they will make recommenations although that is a feat in itself.
I urge you to try Bon Ton if you never have but I will not be responsible for your new addictions from there. Happy Bon Ton shopping from Susan . (very happy customer)
